...Just now reading this as I catch up on your blog.
I'll state the obvious: "We are our own worst critic."

Not only are we harsher on ourselves, but we also are not open minded about how we can improve. We do need to listen to the audience because delivering what they want, possibly what they need, is our primary purpose for speaking.

Thanks, Rich.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13953462051880711823noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2161870764175544567.post-30212971287101576842009-12-22T14:08:09.995-08:002009-12-22T14:08:09.995-08:00Rich, I always cringe when I see my presentations ...Rich, I always cringe when I see my presentations on video, for the same reasons. Doesn't matter how great it went at the time; I can always see where I messed up or could have done better. In my case, I usually can keep improving on what I've done, as there's no final end date to each presentation! There's some comfort there. And, as you said, when people get my message, there's nothing better.

In the documentary, "Heckler," comedian Paul Rodriguez says, "What you out there think of me is not my concern. I know who I am; I'm Mrs. Rodriguez' son. I'm not the best. I'm not the worst."

Loved that quote. :-)Lisa Braithwaitehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10203279973932837403noreply@blogger.com
